SYNOPSIS

Since the death of her father, Selene has been hearing voices. But after her arrival at the Nelligan Institute, not only do the voices not stop, but she finds herself beginning to slip into another universe, a strange parallel world inhabited by beings of light and creatures of shadow.

During one of these forays through the looking glass, Selene meets a mysterious entity called Solis Myr who tries to warn her about an even deeper evil: one that is slowly beginning to slip in through her own being...

CHARACTERS

For Selene and her new friends, David Hex is a complete mystery. But one thing remains clear: wherever he goes, darkness follows. And from out of these shadows, very unsettling things sometimes emerge, like the children with the porcelain masks...

SELENE

Sensible and introverted, Selene hopes her stay at the Nelligan Institute will help get rid of the voices that constantly ring inside her head. But the danger coming from outside will prove a far greater threat than that within, and may actually cost Selene her very soul.

MAX

Strong, opinionated, outspoken and loud, Max leaves no one indifferent. But her bluntness and sometimes downright hostile attitude may just be a façade meant to hide deeply rooted wounds…

DAVID HEX

HERBERT

A permanent resident of Nelligan, shy and quiet Herbert compulsively collects dried seahorses. He will be the first owner of the singular double-tailed seahorse.

TV DINNER

Using TV shows and movie dialogue as his sole means of communication, Edward, aptly nicknamed « TV Dinner », seems perpetually excluded from the real world. But Edward may be more perceptive than he first appears…

STEFANO

Calm, dignified and always elegant, Stefano is the self-appointed gentleman aristocrat of Nelligan, always dispensing sensible advice and genuine affection to his companion in misfortune.

DOCTEUR STROBACH

Doctor Strobach is a world-renown psychiatrist who has dedicated his life to saving the most troubled of souls. He is the rightful heir to Nelligan Manor, a mansion once linked to many supernatural phenomena, which he has now converted into the health facility known as the Nelligan Institute

SOLIS MYR

Since arriving at the Nelligan Institute, Selene has been plagued by disturbing visions and bizarre dreams. In the most peculiar of these, an enigmatic being of light known as Solis Myr seems to call for her help. But how can this damaged girl be of any help to such a luminous being?

?

Who are the children with the porcelain masks? Why does Selene seem to be the only one who can see them? Are they real, or are they part of Selene’s delusions? Why are they even wearing masks? And more disturbingly, what are they hiding behind their masks…?

Solis Noctis: Hippocampal Anomalies is a 114-page graphic novel, the first in a series of three volumes (the last two of which are written but not yet illustrated).

The trilogy is written and illustrated by myself and translated from French into English by Edward Gauvin.

Solis Noctis is a contemporary fantasy drama combining psychology
and the supernatural, a sort of cross between The Shining, Alice in Wonderland and Oliver Sacks’ The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.

Since the project has yet to find a publisher, no release date has been set yet for its digital or physical release.
